  • Sorry, there is no ö in dutch, as you say.

  • @flaxious What about keuken [ˈkø:kən]? You do not write the ö as the letter but the sound is the same.

  • This video is really helpful! But i've got a doubt... I don't find easy to distinguish the ü sound from this one.. I don't know if u have a tip. Herzlich danke!

  • @corp127 The main thing is that you know the difference between o and u because the ö is o with lifted tongue and the ü is u with lifted tongue. I recommend you to watch my video about the German u. Stop at 4:35. This is when I explain the difference between the close vowel u and the close-mid (or half-close) vowel o.

  • @corp127 The German u is a very narrow sound. If you already succeed in saying u correctly, you just have to open your mouth a little more. However, your lips have to stay protruded. The o is not far away from the u sound. It is just a little more open.

  • OMG, i can’t believe i made it!!! it's really helpful, danke!!

  • I finally made the sound! :D

  • @infernalphast9 There is a long ö sound which I talked about in this video. A word with this sound is Öl [ø:l]. There is also another ö sound which is short and more open, for example in the word öffnen [ˈœfnən]. There will also be a training online about this sound in a few days.

  • very helpful. thank you
