Just some insight I'm oddly compelled to share here. Yes humanity has a shared conciousness on a certain level, just as twins share each others thoughts, a little peice of a shared soul. But assuming that collectively humanity is "God" and have predetermined their own fates is assuming a bit much. The future is not set. Time is made of threads of events that weave together, some more certain to happen than others. Fate does not exist, only extremely high probability. Free will does exist.

@Zecalran I would also recommend the book The Joy of Living, by Mingyur Rinpoche, which is great for beginners, and A Path with Heart, by Jack Kornfield, which is pretty dense but also very comprehensive. Both are excellent. Miracle of Love by Ram Dass is a moving book with incredible stories about his teacher for inspiration.
