Angel Falls in Venezuela is the world's highest waterfall at 979 m (3,212 ft), with a clear drop of 807 m (2,647 ft).

Our flyover of Angel Falls on a day trip to during a holiday to Margarita Island (7th June 2007 to 21st June 2007). Angel Falls is the world's highest free-falling waterfall at 979 m (3,212 ft), with a clear drop of 807 m (2,647 ft). It is located in the Canaima National Park, in the Gran Sabana region of Bolivar State, Venezuela at 5°58′03″N, 62°32′08″W. The height of the falls is so great that before getting anywhere near to the ground, the water is buffeted by the strong winds and turned into mist.

The base of the falls feeds into the Kerep river (alternately known as the Rio Gauya) which flows into the Churun River, a tributary of the Carrao River. In the indigenous Pemon language Angel Falls is called Kerepakupai merú meaning "waterfall of the deepest place".

It was in a 12-seater plane on a tour offered from Margarita Island (north of Venezuela). About £130 each but worth every penny of it. Included jungle treck, walking under / through a smaller waterfall (which was as scary as hell!), swamp trip and full meal after.

You MUST do this trip if you visit Venezuela !!!
