For the sounds, the maps, the weapon style, character models, and so on needed to make 2143 based stuff even, they would have to make a whole new game. And if they do make a new battlefield, I can think of none better than 2142's sequel.

I wonder if they're going to remove the commander and its orbital strike? They removed it from bf3 so who knows if they will. Commanders played a key role in 2142 as sometimes the only way to destroy enemies was to use an orbital strike. And don't forget that they want to keep the futuristic feel - bombardment from satellites, who doesn't think that's futuristic?
