Not my Name 59:

Nick's POV:
The cab ride seemed to take hours.
Suddenly I felt like I was going to be sick, though the cabdriver was driving over the speed limit as I requested and bribed for, that wasn't the reason.
I felt sick because I needed Emily.
And I didn't have her.
Did I ever have her?
I sat there hearing the engine of the taxi beneath me, watching as the buildings flew by.
How could I ever expected anything more than this?
Once the summer was over, I was going to have to go back to work.
And she would have to go back across the country.
I held my breath, was our love not enough to be able to keep us together like I though?
It seemed less likely more and more these days.
But one thing for sure that I knew was that I loved her.
She touched a part inside of me that no one else I knew could.
The first timed I chatted with her on the website, it felt like she was pulling out pieces of my soul I had been trying to keep locked up.
Happiness was the first, and now, it felt like it was being sucked back into the dusty space of me little by little.
And I couldn't let that happen.
I needed her.
"St.Fredrick's hospital" the cabdriver grunted and I snapped back to reality.
I threw a hundred dollar bill through the tiny window and jumped out of the taxi, slamming the door behind me.
I ran as fast as my feet would take me through the front door of the hospital and slammed myself into the front desk making the receptionist jump and she turned around from her papers, "can I help you?" giving no sign of interest of helping my at all.
"Emily Gallant?" I said quickly making the lady realize that this was an emergency.
"wait..." she said and started to look through some papers.
"sheshouldofjustgottenhere" I said banging my fists against the desk.
The receptionist gave me a confused look as if to sort out what I had just said, "are you talking about the young lady that just came into the emergency ward?"
"YES" I said plain and simple.
"floor 2, room 2530" she said and before I could sprint over to the elevator "but you can't go in, she's getting checked in"
"and what does that mean?" I replied through my teeth, turning around to face her again.
"well, this maybe new to you young fellow, but most of the time when people are brought to the hospital they are checked to make sure their not, yeah know, dead" the lady replied in a know-it-all, overly annoyed voice.
I let an angry snarl out through my nose.
Dead. HA! She didn't have to be so f'in literal.
"fine" I said through my teeth again, "when CAN I see her?"
"when I say you can" she replied back in a rude tone and pointed her finger at a door across the room with a sign over the door that said, 'WAITING ROOM'
I gave the lady a death glare as I stomped over to the door and swung it open so hard it practically flew off it's hinges and slammed against the wall with a loud 'BANG'.
"you know, destruction of property is illegal?" the receptionist said back at me as the door swung closed.
"ARRGGGHH!" I screamed and threw myself in a chair and put my hands to my face.
