President Barack Obama: Mission Accomplished!

Our music takes us to Barack Obamas presidential inauguration. We were guests of CodeBlack entertainment for the music we contributed to the new documentary "Barack Obama: The Man And His Journey" to Washington DC to attend the National Bar Association Ball. Our friend Joshua Stroman attended the Ball with me on Sunday January 18th.

Right before our trip Pastor Patrinell Wright called me and said that one of her friends (fan) was going to the inauguration and had an extra ticket that she would be willing to share. Her name is Tracy McConaughy and she was gracious enough to share her extra ticket with me. She then called me just days before leaving to say that she thought she wouldn't be able to make it, because she didn't have a room. I asked my landlord (the person I was renting from on Capitol Hill) if he could spare an extra room in his house and he graciously said "Yes".

Tracy and Jon met at the Rayburn building to get our tickets from Congressman Norm Dicks (who Tracy knows personally). While at his office, we met him and got pictures taken with him.

Tuesday January 20th, we left super early in the morning to go to inauguration. We took Metro downtown and were filed into the 3rd Street Tunnel. We didn't have much a vantage point, but we were glad to be there.

Tuesday evening, Jon attended the Southern States Regional Ball and saw newly inaugurated President Obama and the First Lady Michelle Obama. It was a delight.

This film features the instrumental version of "I Am An American" the new music we created specially for the Barack Obama documentary. Also it contains the amazing "Virtues" as sung by Camila Recchi and recorded for our album "Seven Songs For America And One For The World".

This video picks up on the street near the Presidential Inauguration Parade which I was following on a bike. The filming trys to show some of the action from a vantage point and then I do the bike-cam ride home. Some shots of the Southern States Regional Ball appear at the end of the film.

  • It's sad that this doesn't have more views. I think it's important, especially now that the New Car smell is off of the President, to remember all the steps it took to get him where he is now.

On January 20th, the world changed. We've got a long way to go rebuilding and the process isn't pretty, but we're finally going the right way.

  • I can't thank you enough for this footage Jon. You really helped us feel like we were there.
