Don't forget: McCain is a guy who's had government-run health care every second of his life, from birth to his future passing, thanks to the fact that he's a disabled vet and has "served" in Congress!

I'd love to ask John McCain what terrible things have happened to him that he feels so compelled to protect all the rest of us from the horrors of the health-care system that he's enjoyed his entire life!

The public option doesnt promote competition. The governments sanctions that wont let companies compete across state lines are keeping heaolthcare prices inflated. A public government option give the government an advantage over the companies. And thus they put private companies out of business. Real reform would be to allow companies to compete with each other. And that will drive costs down.

What I can't understand is that Britain, Australia and numerous parts of Europe has had public health care for hundreds of years.

In America, it's a for profit organization beneficial for rich people, not the people of America. You have drug addicts who can't afford health care, not to mention the thousands living in poverty.

You spend the most on healthcare but have the worst system of any first world country.

Exactly. We spend hundreds of billions more than any other country on "defense", trillions were lost under Bush, and trillions were given to the banks by the FED. And, social security and medicare are the problem? They are the two of the most successful social programs we've produced despite the Republicans stealing from them to spend on... DEFENSE. Republicans have to rely on intellectual (I use that word loosely) arguments, because the reality is socialism works.

you obviously didnt read what I put. I mentioned taxes! Say I had an operation that would something like £20,000, there is no way that i'd have to pay taxes anything like that amount! your system is ridiculous. fat cats at big businesses deciding who gets what! you need a government to take control of your health system and give doctors the right to perform the operations that need performing. oh and population has nothing to do with. you're country is richer than us!
