1832, το ελληνικό στέμμα δεν είναι κανένα αξιοζήλευτο έπαθλο. Αφορά τη διοίκηση μιας μικρής περιοχής, κατεστραμμένης από τον πόλεμο. Ωστόσο το Βασίλειο της Ελλάδος ασκεί μια παράξενη γοητεία στους Ευρωπαίους ηγεμόνες, καθώς ταυτίζουν την έννοια του ελληνικού έθνους με την αρχαία Ελλάδα.

Μόλις ο έφηβος Όθωνας πατάει το πόδι του στην Ελλάδα, αλλάζει το νόμισμα της χώρας. Επαναφέρει, μετά από 2000 χρόνια τη δραχμή και καταργεί τον Φοίνικα του Καποδίστρια. Δρόμοι και γειτονιές της Αθήνας παίρνουν ονόματα αρχαίων φιλοσόφων, ηρώων και τραγικών ποιητών. Οτιδήποτε μπορεί να θυμίσει αρχαία Ελλάδα, γίνεται έμβλημα του νέου Βασιλείου. Πρώτιστο μέλημα είναι επίσης να σβηστεί το οθωμανικό παρελθόν της Ελλάδας.

Dude once again: arvanites called themselves ARVANITE not greeks! Before the renaissance there were tribes greeks and albanians! I belong to the TOSK tribe which is next to the border with greece! There were aARVANITE CHAMS LABS AND TOSK TRIBES which all spoke albanian and their settlement was epirus! Do you agree w rhis!

Listen no one is denying that Arvanites spoke a Medieval Albanian dialect??No one not Greeks and not anyone else..But the Arvanites themselves are insulted by someone calling them Albanians..The Soulites are the same people as Arvanites..We both speak English right now..My first language is English,,BUT i am Greek both mother and father and i was born in Greece.Aravnites are Greeks who lived with Albanian speakers.If they werent Greek they wouldnt call themselves as Greeks.

They called themselves arvanite not greek or albanians! They spoke a dialect of alb as their lang and greek as a second lang! They would never have joined the greek revlt if it wasnt for the barbaric treatment of ali pasha! suliotes were highland people that lived with livestock and robbing and very little trading with greeks becouse as we know from documents of ottomans greeks were merchants!
