@AndrewMcCheyne I understand the Buc have a microswitch that detect when the wheels leave the ground. Pilots selected gear up during take off roll, so as soon as the wheels left the ground, they would retract.

It seemed to just retract its undercarriage rather than take off.

LC878, yes, that was a typical Buc take off, raise the gear before you actually took off ;) awesome, blood stirring stuff!

This was the first time a Bucaneer had visited Malta since the withdrawal of British Forces in '79 (they hadn't been to Malta for some time before that too). It was fantastic to see one here again in '93. This flypast was particularly poignant because it was also the last Bucaneer to visit Malta. A few short months later, the Bucaneer, The Last British Bomber, bowed out of service.

Yes after Malta it went away maybe it is a gate guardian.This Buc went to Iraq and it got credits due to i spoke to the pilot.
