'Bud' is my favourite Herb Alpert tune. I find it hard to understand why it's being played so seldom. On the Tijuana Brass homepage one can read: 'Featured is a tune called "Bud", dedicated to Ervan "Bud" Coleman, who had recently passed away from surgery complications. (He penned quite a few TJB hits, and was a member of Baja Marimba Band as well.)' It says that the song was written by Bud & Eleanor Coleman. Perhaps his widow put it together from material that she found after his death.

Not to nitpick, but in the interest of accuracy, Bud Coleman's first name was spelled "Ervan."

@BocaFriend You obviously did not have Ninth in your collection then! Yes, a terrific track I've played on vinyl since the tender age of 4 back in '72 when this album was still fairly recent!

Bud is a romantic and a compelling song witch only Herp Alpert is capabele of arranging. You listen to three notes and you know it's Hetp Alpert.

I'm 55 and I've listen to his songs since the age of 12. It was'nt cool at that time to do so but looking back, Bud and other songs from his magic trumpet with an air of sorrwness has been a good thing to do.
