Pachaas Minute is Geo Televisions widely acclaimed audience-based weekly discussion program. Guests from different schools of thought are invited each week to debate on an issue that is usually controversial. The arguments presented by the different schools of thought make for a lively debate indeed.

The audience has an opportunity to participate and be heard, with their comments fueling the discussion even further.

The program was conceived in an effort to develop harmony and tolerance between the sub-cultures of modern society. Topics range from Pakistan-India relations to higher education reform and underage prostitution. The most notable episode, however, was the one on the events of 1971 in the sub-continent.

The open discussion and exclusive interviews were the first of its kind in Pakistani Television history, and the in-depth analysis of the power politics associated with the events of that fateful year were much appreciated by the audience.


Abdur Rauf hosts the program. His impartial style of tackling the most sensitive of issues has made this one of the most popular shows on the channel.
