"Lord it's so hot, and I ain't got a lot
I don't need much but I ain't satisfied right now
Just want the water, I just want an ocean
An endless river to wash away all of my tears

Lord it's so hot, and my heart's bleeding
I ain't been with you and it's you I'm needing right now
Just want the water, I just want an ocean
An endless river to wash away all of my tears

When your hot, and lord how it's steamin
You gotta go back to the river babe
Just want the water, I just want an ocean
An endless river to take me back to my babe

So hot... ..."

  • I never heard this song before, but I thought the video was a great idea. It complimented the song beautifully.

I didn't think it was too literal: The lyrics refer to water sure, but to tears, the ocean and not just washing and there's nothing about washing hands. I think the video implies something sweet about needing love, like needing help to wash, or perhaps just desiring the physicality of it. Just thought I would share that.

  • @doctorlilt taking into consideration the song is about not being with somebody and wanting that person back, I think that the act of washing hands could be suggestive of cleaning up past mistakes, washing away the stains of mistake/regret and desiring to start afresh. It truly is a beautiful song, with an equally beautiful video accompaniment.

  • I think it's about being in Hell. The water refers to baptism

  • @ortcutt

You know better? I know when this was released. Richard. married Kate in 1995 but they have been together long before that. Ask Jason to make sure. For me it makes total sense. And it is a mourning song anyway.

  • @Katzenfreundin This song is from Playing with Fire, their 1989 album, years before the Radley/Ashcroft business. So, I don't know what the hell you're talking about.

  • the song is about heroin. Think about it. cheers

  • @jamielittlefair

    Well said. Totally agree.

  • @PamelaRobnett

I disagree. I like the nailpolish and ring as a contrast to the obvious innocent dirty hands of the guy.

Great comment! I wished I had been there 20 years ago ;-)

  • I loved this song when I was so much younger and in my teens... Still do.

    Very nice video!

Jason lost Kate to Richard and you can hear the pain in every note of that song he wrote. It is still epic and a masterpiece. And I hope Jason found a new love. Well deserved.

  • Genius combination

  • Fantastic song with a cool and inoffensive video accompaniment.
