Joshua Barndt is a Toronto-based painter, installation artist, and curator. His artistic work stands out for its technical proficiency and raw emotive imagery. Conceptually rooted in a reflection on the decline of contemporary society and environmental degradation, it is dominated by dramatic images of bodies in free fall and dark dystopian landscapes of clandestine waste. Barndt's highly multidisciplinary exhibitions weave together delicate hyperrealist figurative paintings, raw painted animations, and large-scale sculpture into immersive installations. These surreal sets are often void of a specific reference to time and place, and inhabit a line between now and then, past, present and future.

In the guise of a restless one I came to find something to 'slow' me down.
Ironic I was drawn to this. Only hours since I learnt a young, free & strong-willed darling fell from too high a height to be saved...this helped put the news in perspective strangely. In essence it's just life speeded up...we all have to crash one day. I'm old & wise enough to realise that...too stubborn to accept it is all... when some lives are cut too short, too soon.
You too are a worry...where are you? Be well

Mr Mendel went away,
having worries night and day.
Now that troubles came to end,
here he's back to hold his friend!
Thanks, dear.
