TV crew & NYPD vs. Hungrr Mascot!
FROM THE ORIGINAL EDITED VIDEO POSTING ON YOUTUBE:
"We bought an iphone to sell for Katrina victims, then were yelled at by tv news guys shooting on the street outside the Apple store on iphone release day . They called the cops. 6/29/07
Update: Hungrr gave the on camera guy a button. He looked at it and gave it back smiled and said something like "You're getting some mad coverage", then the other guy came over.
The hollering guy came over later when Hungrr was across the street and apologized, he said he was just following orders. Hungrr subsequently received an email apology from someone claiming to be the guy. There were many tv and radio stations broadcasting from that corner. A few minutes before this occurred Hungrr was speaking with a guy from Bloomberg News who was set up there and broadcasting from the very same spot in front of the NBC truck. Hungrr then saw someone setting up some gear with a Fox News sticker on it and mistakenly thought these guys were from Fox. Seems they were from G4.
Thanks to all the nice people we met on the line at the Apple store. American people are generous and hard working people. We are not being sarcastic. We mean it. Give a few bucks to your local food bank or volunteer some time." -Hungrr

Fucking pigs. What law is he violating? They have no right to harass him or force him to go. It's a public space. The media doesn't have any special right to a "perfect shot" for their fluff piece on iPhones.

actually linbigy that is almost all cops they goto a 2 year college have just above mental retardation iq's and they are allowed to have a gun and power which gives them god complexes. An they had no grounds to arrest him. Which means they are empty threats. he shouldve gotten arrested made national headlines and it wouldve been dismissed cause the ACLU wouldve picked up that case in 2 nanoseconds.

i respect the crap out of law enforcement for risking their lives to keep the general population safe, but these guys, reguardless of the chosen career are power hungry bullies, there "we ARE the law" and "do what we say when we say" attidudes are outright disgraceful, they seem like they get of pushing others around hiding behind their badge, this isnt an insult to all cops, just these 2

The mascot just wants to show on tv the need for donation. This is why he's there. He's not jerkin off.

Hmm.. i support the cause of what Mascot did. But I think you can't really blame the TV crew here. If I were a tourist I wouldn't want a third person to stand on my way while I am snapping some sceneries too. Sorry to say this, doing a charity work does not give you a licence to be intrusive. I know its a public walk way, but TV crew would also need to do their job. The last thing a TV image need is an orange distraction at the background.

It was a demonstration. They have a right to be intrusive to the extent it is within the law.
FunnyHaHaFunnyHaHa 4 years ago
I didn't know that it was a demonstation there. I thought they were just normal pedestrian. Nonetheless demonstation only states you have a right to express yourself and opinion. But I guess in this mascot's case, its just being 'nice' to just give that crew to do their job. Thats all. Just as if I were a photographer others may just stand away while I was focusing my camera. Same theory.

Haha, yes but demonstrations are made to gather attention. To be overt and sometimes very loud and highly visible. To create awareness. Hungrr was not making a sound.
Hungrr was handing out buttons and talking to people about the idea that a food bank can provide 9,000 meals for the cost of one iphone. ($600, at the time) Hungrr was there to be thought provoking and fun.
