RC explains how switching to a softer shaft in your Vokey Wedges can help increase spin around the green. For example, if you play a Project X 5.5, you should consider wedge shafts in 4.5, or 5.0 to increase your spin rates by as much as 500 rpms. The same philosophy applies to players that play the S300 shafts: consider the R300.

  • I hope the birds de-nested (see0:55) before you turned on the AC! :-o

  • @ckeilah They come back every year! Check out our new InsideTheStudioShow branded channel. We post videos there now. :)

  • What shaft do you put in the vokey wedge r they soft ??

  • @12razzer I've been playing 5.0 Rifle Spinner shafts in my wedges for a long time. Late last year and now, I've been experimenting with the KBS Black Nickel Wedge Regular flex in a Vokey 60TVD. Lighter but still soft. We really encourage players to go softer for feel and the extra torque helps keep the face and bounce in proper position.

  • @InsideTheStudioShow Thanks Ryan for the response. I was going to use PX 6.0 shafts for gap and lob. I thought that would retain accuracy and lower the flight. I will give the PX 5.0 soft step a go.

  • @abc123menon56 The vokey stock shaft is DG200, but in our opinion, the 4.5/5.0 rifle is even better because it's even softer and has more torque. The combination actually launches lower than a 5.5 Project X because the ball stays on the face for just a split second longer. Once in a while, we put a Project X 5.0 soft stepped in wedges, in 99/100 cases we are going rifle or for stronger players, the s400 if their regular irons are x100 or Project X 6.5. Thanks for the question, RC.

  • If one is playing a PX 5.5 (mid/high flex) in their irons, how does a rifle (4.5 or 5.0)with a softer tip and a mid/low flex point give one the same flight/trajectory? I play PX 5.5 in my AP2 irons but in the wedges 54*, 58* the PX 5.5 soars. I would like a lower trajectory. I too thought Vokey stock shaft was DG s200. I'm confused...help

  • @sportsman214 The Rifle is our stock shaft. We are custom only. Vokey's stock is s200. The 4.5 is really soft compared to the s200. We teach a slider technique and I think it really works better with players.

  • @ryancrysler I have never seen a stock shaft for a Vokey be a Rifle... they are always dynamic gold wedge flexes...? I think i'll just stick with just the s400's though haha

  • @sportsman214 Highly recommended! Our "stock shaft" is the 4.5 rifle. But...in 2011 our new stock shaft could be the KBS High Rev. Hearing good things and up to get some in the studio to test soon.
