U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday (BBC session 1983)

This is a version of Sunday Bloody Sunday U2 made during a 'live' BBC session in 1983. It's a raw version of the one they put on the War album and sounds like the live performances of Sunday Bloody Sunday they did round about that time.

not a demo. It's live BBC session from early 1983. this version appeared many years ago on a couple of bootlegs and alwasy wrongly labelled 'demo'. the same BBC session featured Surrender and Like A Song... - officially this session was never broadcast, the recordings did circulate though. If memory serves right, i read there was not even an audience when the band recorded it.

Thanks for clearing this up!! Now at last I know where this version comes from. It explains why it sounds both like a studio as a live version. They did the same with some songs from the October album. After doing songs live they recorded them in a 'live' BBC session; making the songs sound more vivedly. Thanks man!

U2 used photos of this boy as cover for their album Boy and War; and also as cover for some of their singles like Sunday Bloody Sunday and New Year's Day. I used a fragment of the cover of Sunday Bloody Sunday.

I think this may be a live version. The only reason I say that is because Bono seems to yell out to the audience at different points. 2:18 and 3:18 But maybe not because the quieter parts of the song contain no crowd noise. Either way it's a good version.

Thanks for your comment. You're right. I myself am undecided if it's a live version or a studio version. The only information I have is that it's a demo, so that's why I think it's probably a studio version. But maybe they made it after they had done the song live during concerts, so that maybe explains why it sounds like a live version.

That 'kid' is Peter Rowen . Peter and Andy (yes, brothers) were highschool friends with Bono at mount temple . (you can also google 'peter rowen') . Peter did the cover of WAR and BOY album . In 2011, Bono dedicated 'bad' to Andy at their show in Pittsburgh (also available on YT) witch Andy also attended . I'm a hugh U2 fan and collect pictures of Peter and I am VERY interested in your drawing . Any way you can post it to me if I give you my e-mail adress ..?

I don't know why, but this version has a bit of a Ramones feel to it.
