  • @IMRAN3521 Once again, we see evidence of that beautiful, loving, intelligent religion that is Islam.

  • @WildMorgan ...the whole thing would have taken a different turn in that he could bomb continuously,at will and probably into submission , while building up invasion capability. With control of the air, I believe they would have got across sooner or later.

  • @WildMorgan once south of the Tyne or in the Irish sea or Western Approaches.

IMHO the landing craft/barges MAY have been insufficient. in numbers, but there were plenty of other vessels. Sealion was planned as a landing over 7-10 days, in an area of short crossing distance (unlike Normandy). plus, I think, airborne troops would have been used to a great extent. And once German troops had landed, by sea or air, we had nothing to stop them.

Also, had Hitler gained aerial supremacy , ....cont

  • @WildMorgan Nobody said it would be easy . The RN WAS huge but scattered world wide. There were only 6 capital ships at home and they were in Scapa. Between Humber and Falmouth, in August -Sept 1940, the disposition of RN ships was minimal. With control of the air over Britain, any RN units would have been bombed in port and any unit at sea , in the Channel without air cover, would have been in difficulty. The home fleet at Scapa may have been sent south, but would have run into trouble....cont

  • @SuperAncientmariner - Hold on a minute there matey. There are many military historians who believe that even IF Hitler had triumphed in the battle of Britain, he still wouldn't have been able to cross the channel and mount an effective landing. Their landing craft were so insufficient, they probably wouldn't have been up to the job. And the Royal Navy would still have blasted them all to hell despite great losses from aerial attacks. People just don't realise how HUGE the Royal Navy was

  • @Spark02ify - It wasn't just that though was it. It was also down to the excellent pilots and aircraft of the RAF and also the fact that Hitler decided to start bombing our cities instead of focusing on our airfields, industry etc.
