BRIAN BOSWELL'S CIRCUS CRUELTY (Tigers) - 6 Aug 2011

MORE evidence of Brian Boswell's Circus cruelty, this time of his tigers. This footage contains 3 short clips taken by Liezel yesterday. It was just after 2.00pm after the show began at 2.00. The tigers (and lions) live in tiny cages on a trailer. This is where they eat, sleep and defecate. They are separated into individual compartments, one per cage so they cannot even physically interact. In the first clip one tiger is pacing back and forth. The others are at rest. Next a staff arrives with a big stick. With a threatening demeanor he proceeds to bang hard against the bars with the stick and the third clip shows the effects of the staff and his stick, with the tigers extremely agitated and unable to escape. Liezel reports being shocked and feeling sickened to her stomach at witnessing this first hand. She said she felt extreme anger at Boswell and other people who make a living out of tormenting and abusing animals. In her words, "It was a bloody crime scene!" This is the kind of info Boswell does NOT want his patrons to be aware of. This is the kind of abuse and torture they suffer on a daily basis and it is NOT acceptable! This took place in his show grounds where the animals are on public view. The real cruelty in training and retraining circus animals takes place away from the public eye. This Medieval and cruel practice of using animals for "entertainment" in circuses or elsewhere has no place in the modern world. Many countries have banned their use and more are following suit. It is time for people to stop supporting this spectacle. Some of the most spectacular and successful circuses in the world rely on human art and talent for entertainment. Let all of us work towards creating awareness of what a circus ticket supports and spread the word far and wide.

These tigers are allowed outside the cages, weather permitting. In warm weather, they are sprayed with water to cool off and they love it - I've seen this.

At about 0:30, the guy isn't traumatizing the animal, he is playing with it and petting it. Do you really think he would put his hand there if the animal was aggravated??

The long stick is what they use to feed the tiger little pieces of meat.

Please man, Google search: "Zoo’s Intolerable cruelty – the Witness" for some facts about your "animal-friendly" Boswell friend and the treatment of his animals behind the scenes. Imagine if he wasn't subjected to inspections!! Also the SPCA are totally restricted by laws which allow the exploitation of wild animals in circuses. They officially oppose this. Read the article!

@kimdrimantrent: Not delusional, not blind, I've just hung around the circus area outside show times and I've seen these people work with the animals, without them knowing I was there.

True, I've never been to the Natal Zoo or his lion park, so I can only go on what I've read. Which, I have to admit, doesn't sound good.

By the way, the Witness article is about the zoo and the lion park, it says nothing about the circus itself.

I've spent time with Brian Boswell at the circus last year and there is no way that he would ever mistreat or harm his animals.

If you were at least a little informed, you would know that the SPCA does inspections and that there isn't money in the circus to bribe them.
