  • God is mercy for all , even abortionists but not for all forever.

Lets get our act together church and allow God to convert the most hardened sinners. Penance and sacrifice as well as bold outspokeness.

  • BigSleepyOx: Wake up! Catholic politicians have a free right 2 make secular policy as they wish...however, if they want 2 b included in the Catholic community they must act as a Catholic. Their choice. They r welcome 2 go 2 Tiller's or Obabma's church where abortion is embraced.... or is that church influence of secular policy, too? Wake up!

  • LOL

Let me know when a bishop denies communion to a pro-death penalty right winger or a pro-war right winger, both of which are against Church doctrine. Then you'll have some credibility on the notion of banning public officials that don't take orders regarding public policy from the Vatican. Until then, the Vatican is acting as surrogate for the Republican Party.

But know that f the Church bans anyone that doesn't follow orders, we'll have very few Catholics in public office eventually.

  • Church doctrine hasn't seemed 2 influence their policies! Thus, the Church doesn't desire them influencing the Church. They don't care about promote/encourage UNREGULATED abortion surgery vs. Eucharist, so, ban em. It's fundamental. So, u r "thinking" ALL policy is SECULAR? Is anti- war, drugs, rape, child abuse, theft, murder, drugs, libel, slander, adultery, etc. an anti-secular/pro-religious attitude? Unregulated Abortion Surgery Industry is about HUMANITARIANISM, not religion.

  • I just wanted to add:

A pro-choice liberal Catholic public official doesn't perform/receive abortions themselves, they just allow the public (which includes non-Cathoics) to do so.

Now, the Church is against the death penalty, yet I see no Church officials threatening denial of communion to right-wing Catholic public officials that not only favor the death penalty, but carry it out with relish. The hypocrisy is papable, and hypocrisy is among the worst of all sins according to Christ.

  • Fine, then let those Catholic public officials are going to take orders from the Pope when acting for their constituents, most of which are not Catholic, run for office on that premise. Let their platform include: "I will take orders from the Pope."

JFK would never have been elected, nor would anyone that ran on that premise.

And if lots of Catholics did run on that premis, you'd see a return of the Know-nothings and anti-Catholic bigotry. You really want to go back to that?

  • When JFK ran for president, he made it a point that the Vatican would NOT influence him in making secular policy even though he was Catholic. But in recent years, we see many Catholic bishops calling for the denial of communion to Catholic politicians that don't follow church doctrine when making secular policy. So the Church is now indeed trying to influence Catholic public officials regarding secular policy.

This essentially undoes JFK's message regarding separation of church and state.
