Equal Measure

'Look at me'
he decreed
Jumping up and down
waving his arms around
whilst wearing
a fluorescent suit.

'Why are they staring?'
he cried, suddenly caring
as waves of paranoia
splashed against
the rocky outline
of his seldom seen
modest side.

It was all a bit grim
he did
then didn't
need to win
in equal measure,
a kind of half way house
between elation
and pressure,
in the certainty of what's done
has run
and will never be enough;
being only and just
a five minute rush
of something said,
a moment of thought
a gush from the head -

a fleeting thing
or lasting impression?

A curious obsession . . .
