  • I think you need to study some economics (outside of your government school). Do you really think people would choose to buy dirty food if a competitor is offering and advertising third-party audited clean products? Government didn't do anything except raise barriers to entry and let the big producers make more money.

  • @chris3443 I think they would if they either did not have the means to buy better food, or do not realize how unclean their food actually is. Also, consider food choices today: even though people know that processed and packaged food may be full of artificial ingredients and additives, they will continue to buy frozen chicken nuggets from Wal-Mart rather than fresh produce from a farmers market (which in many cases can be cheaper).

  • @marijanie333 you are so right. and many people, simply can't afford the better foods. :( or travel to get to better places' ( no car, bus service, etc) i bet you maybe read "Slaughterhouse" its' a 90's-2000 version of jungle. But all non-fiction

  • A lack of critical thinking skills and the ability to make and discern logical connections is a disease of humanity. It's the cause of consumers making awful choices, and also, coincidentally, the cause of the opinions presented in this video. We should work together to cure this disease.

  • @marijanie333

The real issue, as chris3443 seemed to elude to, is really the inaccessibility of information. No one would eat such foods if they new the truth or at least had the desire to find out. Modern processed foods aren't as bad an many people think and improvements are on the way. If you read "the jungle", you'll notice that the real issue isn't the unsanitary conditions but rather an inability to learn and share information. Human nature may be cruel but intelligence is the solution.

  • @marijanie333 The government is in charge of licencing food sellers currently, and many farmers markets are made illegal under current laws. Also, sugar is currently subsidized, making junk food cheaper than many healthy foods. My point being that without government interference, we would have better choice and more money. Check out Misesmedia on Youtube if you're interested.

  • I would have brought my own wet washcloth and soap to work. I would have used it to wash my hands and face.

Unlike the guy in The Jungle, I would not have gotten married and produced children on such a low income. I bet single men lived better lives than those who tried to have families in such precarious situations.

Also, I would have worn chain-mail gloves to prevent injuries from the knives the workers wielded. Protective gloves had been invented in the Middle Ages.

  • @beaelliott You can stop moralizing, you just can not digest meat. You are allergic to undigested meat. You also possibly do not digest any protein, including vegetable protein. One tablespoon of fresh balsamic vinegar after a meal will fix this problem. Meat is a less expensive form of protein than nuts or cheese.

  • i love emotional heart wrenching knee jerk videos and i also like to always assume correlation equals causation. this video was just for me! thumbs up!

  • This is so sad.
