This a 12" single, from the album, What You Need, released in 1989.
Stacy Lattisaw is a R&B/Gospel singer from Washington, DC, who had success as a teenager during the early 1980s, and is a childhood friend of Johnny Gill. Under the guidance of R&B/Pop producer Narada Michael Walden, Lattisaw had songs such as "Let Me Be Your Angel," "Jump To The Beat", "Love On a Two-Way Street", "Miracles", and 'Attack Of The Name Game'. As Lattisaw grew older, she had singles such as 'Block Party'(duet with Johnny Gill), 'Million Dollar Babe', 'Jump Into My Life', 'Nail It To The Wall', 'Let Me Take You Down', 'What You Need', 'Dance For You' and the love ballad 'Where Do We Go From Here' and 'I Dont Have The Heart.
Lattisaw recorded 10 albums in total between 1979 and 1989, including a duet album, Perfect Combination, with Johnny Gill.
She left the music industry due to frustration with the music industry, to pursue a career in gospel music. She lives with her family in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC, where she currently owns a recording studio. She has recently appeared in a documentary on the TV One Network, and has written an autobiography which was released in 2010.

Very, very cool song. I have no idea why Motown didn't promote it more.

Thanks for uploading this song! I had it on cassette and thought it was a great song...am I telling my age? I used to blast it so loudly I figured my landlord or the cops would knock on the door at any moment!

I don't remember seeing this 12" single back in the song's day. I remember the Jellybean produced "Nail It To The Wall" and "Jump For My Love". She does not even sound like she did on those other two songs but she sure sounds good!
