  • My cat Gus, had to be put down of old age yesterday. He was 14. I got him for my 6th birthday, and shorty after went to see this production. This song always reminded me of him, and came on shuffle on my phone last night while I was showering. RIP Gus <3

  • This part made me cry 

  • @Aranthesa But he does NOT want that , He says it clearly :)

  • I am sitting watching this video with my cat named Asparagus. We just call him Gus. He's been one of my best friends for 14 years so far.

  • not a dry eye in the house when this number is performed. i rescued a feral/wild cat and named him Asparagus. even says so on his name tag.

  • I cry everytime I see this part.

  • A very moving performance. RIP John Mills :'(

  • @angeltheya12 - I played the part of Gus for the Ukiah Civic Light opera. It is a wonderful part. The shadow is only in his memory of his youth. My performance is also on Youtube; search "parsecsam" to get to it. I asked the shadow to bow to me at the end - when I returned the bow he disappears. It explains his actions.

  • - I recently played the part of Gus for the Ukiah Civic Light Opera - It is a wonderful part. The shadow you see in the background is a memory inn Gus' mind. It is Gus when he was young. He is viewing his past. In the performance I did, I ask the shadow to bow to me in the end, and then when I bowed he disappeared. it helps to explain his presence. that performance is also on youtube. Search "parsecsam" to find it.

  • @mojo882 i personally prefer this version, not saying the album one is bad, he's pretty good. But i love the emotion Sir john Mills puts into this performance! Its all the more amazing to remember that he was 90 and blind when performing this and even then he still sounds and acts the part fantastically. I just find this version more sad and emotional, the album version makes it rather comical in some parts.
