Alco/MLW power on the Pacific Region (Former S-BC and FCP railroads) of FNM (Ferrocarriles Nacionales de Mexico) taped in 1993. Models are M630 and M630W (ex-BCR), M636, API620, RS-11, RSD-12 along with a variety of older and Super-7 GE power. Also included is a brief runby with PA 17 at Empalme and the S-BC FT being pulled from the shop at Benjamin Hill. Passenger trains are also featured including the combining of the SBC train with the Nogales FCP service at Benjamin HIll. All of this is gone now.

  • NIce rare footage there is a lot of rare rolling stock i see Do you have any pictures of 89' or 85' flatcars or even trailers you could share??

  • @atsfft103 I think I may have taken some slides of trailers on flats on a previous trip. On the trip that yielded this video I was pretty much focused just on doing good video. I will have some extra time coming up in a few months, I will try to dig out those slides and I will be in touch if I have something. Thanks for your comment.

  • Good lord, what an incredible treasure trove! Who'd have guessed BCR MLWs ended up in Mexico? It's a shame that's all gone, but at least there's a PA under restoration now in the States.

  • @Nachtwolf1 PA 17 shown in the video still exists in Mexico, as well as the 19. Both are in museums, along with the FT. Just about everything else except the Super 7's are gone.

  • Thanks for posting this!! This is the best FNM footage I have seen other than the Pentrex videos, the Mexican railroads even into the FNM era had much of the character the US roads had lost years before. Its sad that except for the few preserved in Merida and Puebla, every single ALCO in Mexico was scrapped. And hardly a passenger train left. I would have loved to visit Mexico back then, I dont think I will ever get tired of seeing videos from the FNM era.

  • @nikosjk1 In 1988 I rode the last trip on the Bosques de Chihuahua behind an FM Baby Trainmaster. We also rode the Mexico Northwestern line of the CH-P from Juarez to La Junta, then over the CH-P to Topolobampo, then up the Pacifico to Nogales. I will post a slideshow of this trip soon. At that time operations were right out of the steam era, with telegraphed train orders, kerosene markers, cabooses, train number indicators, etc. Just diesels on the point instead of steam.

Hi atsfft103, I would be glad to send you pictures of Mexican 89' flatcars and trailers! All I need is your email address. Also, yes Gaby's Decals is who I am referring to. He is a really great guy and excellent modeler.

PHENOMENAL VIDEO! FNM film is rare and you have provided a gold mine. Been a fan of the Mexican railroads since I was a kid the 1960's. Many thanks! 5*****

  • @atsfft103 -

I have several photos of Mexican 89' TOTC flatcars and trailers that I can send to you. Also, I know a guy in Mexico City who makes custom painted & lettered Mexican 89' TOTC flatcars and trailers, several of which I have bought. Long live the FNM!

  • @fmnut I would appreciate it I have been searching for Piggyback train Photos for some time now. I'm trying to model them in HO thank you very much

  • Very good video and nice showcase of engines now gone, to bad though, would have loved to see a MLW M630-W in real life, ah wel luckily his smaller brother survived (the MLW M420)

  • Superb - all the way from 00:00 to 36:16. Thanks for sharing, especially for the ex D&H PA with it's 12-251(F?) motor. It sounds just like a Greek MLW MX627. Happy days!
