Today I compare my 2010 15 Inch MacBook Pro with the new 2012 15 Inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display.
Specs of the 2010 MacBook Pro are:
2.4 GHz Dual Core Intel Core i5 Processor
4GB RAM
320GB Hard Drive 5400rpm
NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with 256MB Video Memory
Specs for the 2012 MacBook Pro are:
2.6 GHz Quad Core Intel Core i7 Processor
8GB RAM
512GB Flash Storage
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB Video Memory

My macbook pro is from 2007, but it's still pretty fast, and does what I need to do. I'm thinking about getting a new, but I'll probably wait a year or so, probably until they reduce the price on the retina. Otherwise I'm thinking about getting a pc with no OS and go for linux.
