Nernst lamp is an early incandescent lamp which uses yttria-stabilised zirconia rod instead of tungsten or carbon filament . The ceramic rod is not electrically conductive at room temperature and needs to be heated with an external heat source .
This experimental lamp was made using a piece of Zirconium-oxide ceramics from a ceramic potato peeler :)
