This is a demo of Ecstasy Motion's ability to stream a live motion capture data feed into a game engine, Torque3D. The capture system is Optitrack by NaturalPoint. This is SIGGRAPH 2009 New Orleans, Louisiana.
True. I guess the best use for this would be to create character animations and such. However, in the way it was demoed in the video, it would be possible to utilize this motion capture as a game feature. Of course, past experiences with such "features" ended up being nothing more than a gimmick unfortunately. I hope that one day, this kind of tech could be used in games, on the consumer side.
Luckily I'm a developer and own a Torque license, so I might be able to give this a go one day! :-)
its amazing how they can do this with torque and everyone on the forums is just struggling to implement melee haha
