Learning a foreign language is a popular self-learning education today. The reason behind this rising trend though doesnt pertain to a specific basis since each person interested to learn other countrys language has a correct perspective in his own way. No one person here has the exact and correct answer in supporting an interest to why learning other languages is such a phenomenal hit nowadays.
@PIANOPHUNGUY well,I'm half-Mexican and half-Ecuadorian by the way ;)

@soccerruben1 It is Hispanic not Hisapnic. Your recent ancestors crossed the southern border? Then your family tree has a different history. When the Europeans came across on sailing ships the trip was one-way mostly. Not until maybe the 20th century was it feasible to go back. Therefore to Americanize those immigrants they were taught and encouraged to speak English only. Not today with multicultural suicide they are promoting. If the idea i
is to go back, then the trip was not worth while.

Americans never learned foreign languages, because of the long crossing of the Atlantic or other bodies of water. Then there was the westward movement across the praries and across the Rocky Mountains and through the desert. It was difficult to go back again. So we stuck with one language, "English". When oil runs out there will be no more cheap flights abroad. Maybe only trips to Mexico or Quebec. That's it!
