@YOUNOTCOOKING It's easy to get into but for new players can seem boring because it is a sandbox: there is no "plan" for you. Find a good corporation (guild) with some nice people and you'll enjoy the game.

@Fleabr , Depends honestly. Some have mangaed to turn over a corp/alliance in months or years,
I would think it depends alot on your game play experiance. As well how good charater you have. ;), [ skill points have a say in how effective you can be. ]
Some do it for ingame currency others for revenge or just fun.
But.. starting from scratch and trying to accomplish something along those lines might take a while ;).

How much time, realistically, would it take for a guy to do this.

@YOUNOTCOOKING The tutorial of the game has been improved a lot lately, so it's easy to learn the very basics. The community is also one of the friendliest I've even seen, there's always someone to help a new player.
However, the game isn't simple, it's one of the most complex games ever. Some call it excel on space background and it isn't very far fetched. Graphics are secondary (check some actual combat videos)
Get the trial, play through tutorial. You'll know if the game is for you or not.

I've been curious about EVE for a while now. A friend of mine whos a long time player of it says I should really check it out. I'll be honest, it seems like a hell of a daunting game especially coming from casual WoW background. I've tried other mmo's; Warhammer Online/Aion/FFXIV (all have crashed and burned) but I reckon all these pale in comparison. How easy/friendly is EVE to start as a totally new player?

sun's going down, better bring down an alliance

when i watched this i thought of fight club for some reason
@Bigalinbklyn83 Yes, this exact thing happened to an alliance called "BOB" or "Band of Brothers". They had existed for about 4 years at this point, when someone who had a grudge against various members worked his way to directorship of one of the guilds that comprised the alliance. He was trusted enough to be given control of most of the alliances material goods and promptly stole them and closed the alliance.
They controled nearly 1/4 of the map and lost it all within days

Reminds me of the guy who tried to bribe the DReddit CEO to do just that. The guy agreed, then posted a video of himself stealing corporation assets and destroying corporation capital ships - on the test server. Guy gives CEO nearly a thousand dollars in game time, then realizes he got tricked.
