.50cal PCP fires a 180gr steel-core .30cal saboted bullet. The sabot was machined from acetal (delrin). Penetration was 215mm (8.5") of phone book, just short of going through the full 230mm (9") stack. MV would've been between 800 and 850 fps.

Test on 2.5mm stainless steel plate showed perforation but not full penetration, with deformation
of the bullet nose.

  • DAM! That's an air gun!? Where did you buy that, and what kind of pressures does it use? You machined the bullet yourself? That would suck if you missed the phone books and shoot through your walls.

  • @ajohnson It did suck when there wasn't enough phone books first time. It's my built PCP, 3kpsi usual, sabot is machined from plastic stock, bullet is combloc manufacture but a machined steel one would do better.

  • i would like to see how accurate is your rifle with those bullets

  • @asvestomixZ Lead bullets are most accurate, sometimes < 1/2 MOA. These ones are not so good

but I have used this kind for small pest control at < 30yd. You need a fast twist barrel to stabilise, 1-12" or

    faster.

  • what was that number at 1:25 basten d j &j k. lol

and why would you shoot a phonebook. i could have used them.

  • @TheYouwillsuffer Just random, or maybe Paul the Bullet is psychic and picks the next lottery winner. I use old phone books, for backstops.

  • @Deathz0r94 Yeah, or else you would definitive be in danger! :O

  • @2URBO2 I will try not to be within a mile or two of that round then.... :)

  • @Rakemaan sabot's are btter for armor piercing than anything else, the ones we use in the smoothbore cannon the tank has drop or wobble about 1 inch every mile traveled, but when you get something that moves a mile a second it's moving a bit fast for that

  • @Rakemaan lol. hope its me. cool vid tho..

  • @Rakemaan interesting, maybe i start shooting bullets instead of pellets? :p
