MomoButoh Company's first coordinated butoh practice on a common theme in 4 different locations. Lee Atwell invited us to create a dance in tandem to honor the UN World Oceans Day. Momo chose to not use a fossil fuel driven vehicle for the day and do a dance of cleaning up the beach in Langley. Upon arriving she changed into the "Mama Ocean" dress that was from a piece created in 2008 to honor her teacher Kazuo Ohno. Surprised to find almost NO GARBAGE on the beach--except one plastic "pure apple juice" bottle in front of the Langley Inn & Spa. Feeling somewhat frustrated and helpless about wanting to help but having no clear need to fulfill...she proceeded to dance with the mouth of the Langley Creek, the sandbar, and the Thank You shopping/garbage bag....to be continued in Part 2. Music: Gradual Requiem by I. Marshall.
