MrBubbleBelly...why are you making it an us vs. them issue? And why assume ALL politicians are corrupt? Some of them get into politics in order to affect change. Isn't the whole idea behind OWS to affect change? So why be down on a politician who is trying to HELP!? ThatCrazyLiberal is right: at some point OWS needs to do something besides protest.

The OccupyMovement absolutely need to get behind an amendment like this. The Movement cant just forever be an aimless group, they need to throw themselves behind something and get things done, like amendments or legislation.
-
@ThatCrazyLiberal You should watch your mouth before people start thinking you can only talk like a Conservative. I know McGovern is a progressive but the Occupy movement does not need to get behind an amendment that falls far short of the fundamental change we need. Politicians are corrupted in far more ways than through campaign financing.

@MrBubblebelly Fuck you, Jim McGovern was a progressive even before the OccupyMovement, just like Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders. He's a politician who truly works for the people. Learn about a representative before you begin to start making judgments as if he's a scumbag conservative.

Another politician ready to co-opt our movement. The solutions must come from us, not the politicians.

Unions are special interest just the same as Corporations. And let me be clear the movement will be against Corporations until they are all unionized.
-
We the People - the 99% will be watching to see what (if anything) happens to the "People's Rights" Bill: HJRes88. Let's all share this and do all we can to spread the word... Mic Check!

I support this wholeheartedly. It was the first issue that I became aware of through Occupy, and the reason I joined the movement. Corporations and partnerships are not people and they cannot have the same rights I have.
This is government finally listening to the people. So I support it completely. As for Union powers, their power rests in their numbers! So if they want to influence they may all still donate to and contact their representatives in govt. as private citizens. Unions can choose a day and everyone privately donates just like how OWS chose bank transfer day and mass action day to make our voices heard.-Leland Gross, OK (independent)

@KCKatheist: agree wholeheartedly that the 99% needs to focus on this. Disagree with anti-tent sentiment. The occupy movement is a huge part of why stuff like this is gaining traction. Occupy is powerful in it's ability to inspire, and has already done a lot of good. The problem with 'occupy the vote' is that, thanks to massive corporate and private campaign funding, votes are almost always a choice between 2 corporate shills..,
