Before and during the Olympics, the issue of Tibet was frequently in the news. In March, an anti-government demonstration in the Tibetan capital, Lhasa, turned into a riot. It catapulted the Himalayan region into the headlines and led to protests that disrupted the Olympic torch relay. In the closing days of the Beijing Olympics, China showcased a new production of an old propaganda opera that presents an image of Sino-Tibetan harmony. Stephanie Ho reports from Beijing.
This is an outrage! This "play" is nothing more but a production of ethnocentrism and superiority.

how do Chinese destroy Tibetan culture and tradition? every single spring festival, we showcase the Tibetan culture, if you ask every single Western professor working in china, they'll tell u that Tibet is a part of China. plus we have 1.3 billion people...more people means the need for more power. Chinese people were lagging way behind behind, so what do you do when they can't get off their asses? implement more power. China's now slowly moving into democracy, just that they can't rush it...

If China wants good relation with Tibetans, then China should cease to destroy tibetan culture and tradition, china should cease to demographic agggression, and China should encourage meaningful revival of Tibetan language. In Tibet, Tibetan language should be official.
