@wcresponder Not just canada but the US also. This ship is litteraly everything the LCS was supposed to be. Cheap, flexable and powerful.
we'll take 50 please.

That is bad ass ship :)
-
@jakobpind Godt nytår og held og lykke med stationeringen ombord på Iver Huidtfeldt. :)
-
Ah okay :=
I'm on the first crew of the new frigate. Looking very much forward to try the new ship in the spring :)
I was also in africa thos fall, hunting pirates.
Happy new year !

@jakobpind Just a navy-nerd. ;)
-
I agree.
Are you employed in the navy ? You seem to know quite a lot about these ships :)
-
@jakobpind It's possible a bit longer, but the profile is almost identical, and so is the basic outline of the ships, except that the Iver Huitfeldt class is one deck lower, and almost one thousand tonnes lighter. Hence the higher speed.
So while they might be a tiny fraction longer, they are not larger, they are smaller. In fact, if a frigat was larger than the Absalon-class it would not be a frigate anymore, but a destroyer.
-
@Blackie3391 No, Iver Huitfeldt will actually be about 1 meter longer than Absalon
-
@LarS1963 You are not right.
1: it's called IVER, not IVAR
2:IVER class will be about 1 meter longer, than Absalon class.
3:The armament will be bigger, better. It will be fitted with the VLS, capable of firing Tomahawk missiles. So yes, quite bigger armament.

@fnukket
The Ivar Huitfeldt Class frigates? They are actually a tad smaller.

@chrthiel No, The Ivar Huitfeldt class is about 1,4 times bigger. It is a NATo frigate. I think that the standard flex ships are patrol boat class.
But the Ivar Huitfeldt is larger!

@SuperFckFan92
Standard Flex is a combat management system, much like AEGIS is, though designed to do different things.
The SF 300 was the first class of ships to use it. Since then we've build six other Standard Flex equipped classes. The Thetis Class OPV, the Knud Rasmussen Class OPV, the Mk1 Holm class, the Mk 2 Diana class, the Absalon Class and the Ivar Huitfeldt. On top of the that the Niels Juel Class corvette has been retrofitted with it.

well... if they HAVE to be a 1000 feet plus you are probably right. But there's French nuclear carrier "Charles de Gaulle" at 900 feet, and the future "Richelieu" which will be bigger, close to or above 1000 feet. ;)

@LarS1963
True, but it only displaces about 40% of a Nimitz
