This version of Sally Ann comes from Joe Birchfield and the Roan Mountain Hilltoppers. Played high and screechy on 2 strings by Brian Scott. Key of D.

Joe didn't play it with all the rhythmic bow chops in the B part... I just thought it was fun to do in the B part.

  • Perfect! A much different version then the one we play around here.

  • sounds good man. you should try that one version of sally anne that joe plays solo on the cd.

  • Mighty fine!

  • Nice job! Good to hear all of these different old tyme fiddler's versions maintained -- it does sound like the kind of way a person who was not able to pick up tunes with tab and the internet might have evolved the tune in his playing.

I'm not crazy about that version of the tune but you do a nice job fiddling and of capturing the old tyme feel -- great video!

  • mighty fine, Brian. I've been admiring your banjo picking but this is awesome. Post more when you get a chance.

  • Awesome, hoss!
