" You've made a slave out of your sister and you are still slaves immidating your slave masters." Now, THAT, was some heavy shit, even for the 70's.

im sorry i dont have any bread with me, and as for kicking my ass, i strongly recommend that you give it careful consideration before trying.

I would say, Barnabas Collins from Dark Shadows. Barnabas was popular back in the 60's as a reluctant vampire.

C'mon you shoulda made it a little bit longer !:-)

Blacula was a Righteous Brutha. If ya'll notice he was like any other blaxploitation character from Superfly, The Mack, Willie Dynamite. What they all had in common was they were all trying to get out the negative game. Drug Dealing, Pimpin and for Mamuwalde; Vampirism. He wanted to be human again. The ending was sad for me but I always hoped he come back to kick Dracula Racist Ass!

and to think, this guy was the King of Cartoons on Pee Wee's Playhouse.
but yeah, great line.
"and as for 'kicking my ass'....."
classic

Good call. though I do sort of remember something now that tralfazimus mentioned Dracula. In House of Dracula, Drac contacted a doctor to see if he could remove the evil from him. Seemed to imply he wanted to be cured. Then again, could have all been an evil plot as well.

@TheChuck624 That's what made this movie a classic - that one unforgettable quote. Though Mamuwalde (Blacula) was a villain, he spoke the truth!

"I'm sorry I don't have any ....bread with me" classic, what a voice, so strong and commanding. I must say his voice was more commanding than James Earl Jones.

Those two pucks are going to get what's coming to them! They have no idea who they were fooling with! LOL! Anyway, I saw this in the theatre when I was in elementary school with my parents and family in 1973 when it was released. Great movie! I was hoping I would have seen those guys get their's in this video. Nice video nevertheless.
Mamuwalde is the man. No doubt about it.
you know, I was thinking about it....but is Blacula maybe the first example of the penitent vampire?

@TheBadGuy235: interesting question--I'm having a hard time coming up with an earlier one. Certainly all the Draculas (Lugosi, Lee, etc.) were pretty much happy being evil. And the broody, angsty, guilt-feeling vamps didn't show up till later (Anne Rice's Louis, Angel, Twilight guy). Anyone out there have any earlier examples of penitent vampires before Mamuwalde...?
