i love the jazzy tune

Real TV, from days when TV was worth its licence fee. It's all turned to shite nowadays. Bring back Regan and Carter. "Get your trousers on...you're nicked". Solid gold programming this was.

great tune - but I really love the closing track even more

if they show it in the afternoon then that must mean half the great one-liners and violence will be taken out being laden with swearing etc, now they'll have to show the after 9pm unsqueamish uncut version too lol

Timely infact as Sweeney 2 has just had its 2nd airing on ITV4 this afternoon.
The music impresses more each time I hear it! Hopefully someone may be able to oblige with it.

I was too young to see the show when it first came out, but the theme tune just got me. Its one of the all-time classics in television theme tune history. Top drawer for the creators, who made the theme tune BTW?

The dvd box set is worth a buy...
Harry South wrote the theme tune.
thanks for taking the time to comment.

Thanks again. I had never heard the full versions of the opening and closing credits so thanks a million. The Sweeney and The Professionals were both such excellent British cop shows.

i think what i liked about them was that they didn't always win, sometimes the villans did get away with it.
