  • I didn't know other people were out there with some of these same concerns. Seriously. I am having a blast catching on to this whole other fora which is YouTube...I have been living under a rock. Lol. Anyway, I have been considering very seriously, for the first time in my middle-aged life cancelling my local paper. I can't even believe I just said that - I am so disappointed in it these days. For many of the same reasons I have been reading about here. Sigh.

  • It is one big catch-22. In order to have access to authority you must represent a significant readership. Once you have a significant readership you have value and will be purchased by the Big 5.

  • i am as well. i think the info both in print and media is too filtered. i also think a great upheaval sometimes gives rise to something better. more independent papers maybe?

  • Didn't mean to imply that you were, I just find myself frustrated with the state of affairs these days. Im disappointed.

  • no, i love to read the paper. Our paper however is just AP wire stories and opinion. not that opinion is always bad, but both sides would be nice. I am not a TV waste, by the way

  • so you get your news from TV, or the internet, which is full of opinionated pieces rather than the reporting news? The news paper was the last bastion of actual news. Too bad Americans don't know how to read.

  • i quit buying the paper because it was full of opinionated pieces rather than reporting the news

  • Newspapers are just another business sector where the executive class is taking FAR too much money from the business's coffers.
