this is a video showing you how to change the audio cables on a technics 1200 or a 1210 as they are both the same just 1210s are black and 1200 are silver.

INFO: depending on the wattage of your soldering iron depends on how long you will have to hold the tip on the conection before the solder melts, for exsample a 10 to 20 watt soldering iron will take longer than say a 25 to 40 watt soldering iron.

it doesent really matter weather you use lead or lead free solder but bear in mind that lead free has a higher tin content than leaded solder and contains more flux so its harder to melt also leaded solder is soter but lead free solder is more brittle than lede solder.

WARNIGS: make shure you unplug the turntable before unscrewing or opening.

be careful not to breake any of the thin wires from the tone arm as they are a very delicate.

  • Whats the minimum recommended cable spec to use? Must they be as thick as the original ones or could I get away with thinner cables?

  • @TheManifestmusic As long as the cable adequately shielded, and the cable impedance is under half an Ohm you will be fine to use any thickness cable.

I only used this thickness cable because it was all I had and it fit into the connectors that I had.

    Hope this helped.

    Nice One ; )

  • @viperfrank Thank you, yes this has helped a lot :D much appreciated, good video too!

  • @suz195 You need an input with a phono amp. You can't just connect turntables to an aux port (or CD/DVD/TAPE etc). The mixer has this already (if you connect it correctly that is). Remember to connect the tiny grounding cable too!

  • @SwapMeet23 Thank you, that's great, it makes me feel like my videos are worth wile when people are getting success from them.

  • Thanks you for the video! I just finished replacing the audio cable of one 1210, I all worked out fine. The soldering part was pretty hard, I have never done it before. But it works and sounds great now!!!
