George Frideric Handel - Tamerlano
----------------------------------------------------
Bajazet: Placido Domingo
Tamerlano: Monica Bacelli
Asteria: Ingela Bohlin
Andronico: Sara Mingardo
Irene: Jennifer Holloway
Leone: Luigi De Donato
Musical Director: Paul McCreesh
It is the famous Italian contralto Monica Bacelli (Tamerlano is the guy in purple, of course), she has nothing to do with Andrea Bocelli. Please read my post attentively before commenting it. Domingo sings of course the role of Bajazete, the only tenor part in this opera.

@tamerlano236 Bocelli??? It's Placido Domindo!!! He's in his 70s and he still sounds great!! He's a bit more of a verismo singer though, never heard him sing Haendel before.

Weird production. Bacelli isn't good for the role of Tamerlano. The best Tamerlano I've ever heard is Nicholas Spanos. He is great.

What an absurd/horrible translation...

Bacelli is a spectacular miscast (both vocally and as a character) in this production! Why is she always singing this role? I think she spoiled already the musically excellent Pinnock production.
