Without a doubt Ponting in his prime was the best fielder in the world. Yes, Jonty Rhodes was also good but he was primarily a shot stopper fielding close in. Ponting is obviously a good close in fielder but he is also good on the boundary. His throw is bullet like and i remember him many times sprinting along the boundary and diving full length to save a four.

Rob, I've been looking for a particular Ponting inspired Run Out. It was his first overseas assignment as test captain (so we are looking at the 2004 season) in Sri Lanka. They two teams played a ODI series before that. In one of the games, Ponting made Marvan Atapattu Run Out from Mid Wicket. Blew my mind then, blows my mind thinking of it now, but I couldn't find it in this video or the extended one. Wondering if you have the series at all by any chance.
