Video teaser from the COC's playful new production of The Magic Flute, featuring set and costume designs by designer Myung Hee Cho.
The Magic Flute is on stage at the Four Seasons Centre Jan. 29 to Feb. 25, 2011. Tickets are now on sale at coc.ca/Tickets.
@yadsik Furthermore, Tamino has not yet reached his spiritual peak through union of all the elements (symbolised by the Magic Flute forged by Pamina's wise father in water, air, fire and earth). Thus, he must be as far east as possible (Japan), meaning he has not yet reached his Zenith, and has not yet been guided westward.
This is why Freemasons say 'I am a traveller from the east seeking that which is lost', and the master (Sorastro) would reply 'I am from the west and have what you seek'.

Wonderful designs, however just one note:
Tamino here is wearing European clothing. This is contrary to Schikaneder's description. Schikaneder intended Tamino to be wearing Japanese clothing. Not just because Tamino is a prince of Japan, but because he represents the eternal masculine and contrary to the eternal feminine (Queen of the Night), and thus the Masonic symbol of masculinity is the Sun, which rises in the east. Tamino comes from the easternmost country.
