This is a high resolution composite radar loop of the Little Rock, Arkansas tornado of April 4,2008. Some important points to note (similar to the Atlanta tornado videos in my gallery) are that thunderstorm warnings are outlined in orange, thunderstorm watch boxes are blue, and tornado warnings are bright red (while the deep red/maroon are flash flood warnings).

Notice as the storm passes over Little Rock that a clean hook can be seen, but most importantly the tornado warning (and confirmed tornado, report below) occurred within a thunderstorm and not a tornado watch box. Even more astonishing, is that as the tornado moved through Little Rock, and continued on, a thunderstorm watch was issued again instead of a tornado watch ahead of the storm's path.

Noted in the Atlanta tornado radar loops in my gallery, is the fact that the Atlanta tornado was not only not in a tornado watch box, but in an area with no watch box whatsoever.

Five tornado reports were reported at the time of this writing for the Little Rock tornado(es) beginning at 0210z in Garland County and ending at 0315z in Pulaski County.

Tornado watches are issued by the SPC (storm prediction center) only, and each individual NWS office is responsible for thunderstorm / tornado warnings.
