If you're trying to convince the reader that flightless birds developed non-flight ways to avoid predators, that's still an informative thesis and essay. If you're trying to convince someone that the Flightless Bird Protection Society is an effective group and should be supported, that's a thesis of opinion and you'd be writing a persuasive essay.

love your videos but I have a question. If I am writing an essay where I have to convince someone of something is that considered an essay to inform, or in an essay of this type is it ok to put more of your opinion into it.

@Vindictify -->> Good question. Word choice and point of view are always dependent on audience and occasion in the real world. In school, such questions are usually addressed by the assignment directions from the instructor. As a general principle, informative writing avoids the subjective element as much as possible.
