Thom Campbell, Senior Media Manager at Intel, predicts that the rise of tablet computers like the iPad will replace netbooks. "It does everything a netbook can do, but it's so much more personal," he says. "It's a companion to everything else."

-----

The International Advertising Association (IAA West) features a panel of media gurus to discuss the dynamics and future of tablet-enabled advertising and media moderated by Greg Stern of Butler, Shine and Stern.

Panelists include Matt Van Dalsem, Vice President, Marketing, BlackRock; Greg Sterling, Principal of Sterling Market Intelligence/Analyst, Internet2Go; Andy Berkenfield, General Manager, Duncan/Channon; Carilu Dietrich, Director of Global Advertising, Oracle; and Thom Campbell, US Media Manager, Intel Corporation.

  • Ipad is an inferior product. A medium range netbook is better in literally every way other than aesthetics.

  • iPad is a common sense killer. Just look at that guy.

  • His ideas perfectly match his shirt...

  • @FincheLaVaccaVa A windows netbook has access to hundreds of millions of apps. As for finding them, google? Some netbooks take no time at all to start up and the ipad takes 10 seconds anyway so its not instant boot.

Having inferior specs makes all the difference, it allows for better quality experience in just about every aspect.

It's ironic because a netbook can do all those things you listed at the same time, only faster and better, while the ipad can only do 1 at a time.

  • @Ricky103 i don't think so, cause a netbook doesn't have the apps that you can easily find and use. Also you have to open a netbook in order to use it. and start it up.

I don't have an iPad, but to say that it is inferior just because of the hardware specs it's silly. Unless you are trying to replace a full featured laptop with it, or a desktop. as a companion the iPad IMHO is better than any netbook.

i don't think you can get apps, read a book, play a game, visit facebook as easy using a netb

  • Another Fora.tv vid where some numbnuts goes blah blah blah for 2 minutes. Pompous asshats!

  • @Canterwoodcore So be it then... I am sure there are people who could care less about my opinion... So you got me there...

  • @2222554 Jesus Henry Christ you're sad. You must have sent a gazillion messages to people who obviously couldn't care less about your opinion and Googled "knowledge".

  • I'm annoyed in some ways that this is being heralded as another brilliant move by Apple. To me, the direction of technology is obvious. The implementation is not. It seems to me that it wasn't obvious to Apple either. They made a decent product, but it isn't the second-coming of Jesus. Get excited about innovative technology, Apple branded or otherwise.

  • Ipad is a large, portable picture frame. I'd like one, but I don't want to pay more than 500 dollars to pretend that it is more functional than a netbook.

  • @Ricky103 Don't underestimate aesthetics, it's what's been selling Apple's products for a long while and it's been doing its job well.

  • Your a bunch of trolling fools to try and go against what is already being established...
