  • I love the suzuki sx4 but I'm afraid of those cvt transmissions.

  • @chickenfarm09 then you should do what I did - get a proper manual transmission! Or if you MUST have an automatic, get an SX4 from 2007-2009 since they have a conventional automatic instead of the CVT.

  • I thought AWD lock means all wheels are spinning at the same rate?

  • @wow0yunnies AWD LOCK mode means that the center differential coupler is "locked" versus merely automatically adjusted by the iAWD computer. Essentially, it sends more power to the rear wheels than the AWD AUTO mode does, and makes the AWD system as effective as that of your typical SUV or pickup. But like most vehicles, the SX4 still has open differentials front and rear, which allows the wheels to spin at different speeds left & right.

  • i cannot wait to purchase one of these.

  • @pedekiller: I'll agree that it takes some time getting used to (coming from a audi A4 to an SX4) as there seems to be a slight delay in the "drive by wire" throttle system although you get used to it much like any other manual, and from there out it's as good as any I've driven: Audi, Toyota, American cars (the worst, why can't we figure it out?).

I'd recommend the manual. Don't let this characteristic that you get used to be a deciding factor in getting an auto, it's not worth it

  • That... looks like my driveway....

  • @superchris09 really? we owned the 2010 model and it had the exact same problem that the RAV 4's and some other petrol cars do.

IMO this problem could be fixed in 2 ways, 1. install a faster computer, go up to the 32 bit processor rather than the 16 bit that is in them OR

    2. install a bigger flywheel, that will carry over until the computer catches up, however it will lose the revvy responsive feel that people with a lead foot like.

interesting that your 07 model dosent have the issue though.

  • @pedekiller I own 1 2007 FWD with a manual and dont experience this problem...

  • I love mine! But you do have to almost pop the clutch on steep hills!

  • @MulchZ do not buy this car in a manual, the engine management computer is too laggy so if you dont get used to it you stall from slow starts all the time unless you rev it up a lot before starting to de-clutch. we've got one and it's a downright bitch to drive if you arnt careful and watch the tach when setting off on a hill start.

  • @trainlinezoo I can't say that I know about compatibility with the coilovers. I haven't seen how the coilovers mount to the suspension and chassis. Perhaps RRM can help.
