Honor Flight is a non profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices. We fly our heroes to Washington, DC to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans -- WW II survivors along with those other veterans that may be terminally ill. Honor Flight first flew in May 2005 with six small planes flying 12 WW II veterans, departing out of Springfield, Ohio.
In August 2007, a video crew from WOSU accompanied central Ohio veterans as they flew from Columbus to Washington D.C. This video shows the highlights of that trip.
This video was created in part of ohiowarstories.org.
This is a great nat pack. I will be shooting the central IL vets later this week as they go through the same trip, and airing their stories on my news station. You have given me a lot of great ideas, if my stories turn out half as good as this I will be happy!
