Hi, this is Larry Hobbs @ FatNews.com.

larryhobbs@fatnews.com

This is from Mark Starr, MD's book Hypothyroidism Type 2: The Epidemic.

Dr. Starr also notes that that desiccated thyroid (Armour) is much more effective than synthetic thyroid hormones.

Here is what he wrote on page 164.

A recent book by Sanford Siegal, DO, MD, entitled Is Your Thyroid Making You Fat lends additional credence to the thyroid epidemic.

Dr. Siegal specialized in weight loss.

He... asked if I would be... on his referral list... because I was one of only several hundred doctors who prescribed the medication.

In over 40 years of practice, Dr. Siegal found in treating thousands of patients that desiccated thyroid (Armour) was much more effective than synthetic thyroid hormones.

Dr. Zondek also reported the superior efficacy of desiccated thyroid over synthetic thyroid hormone in the treatment of the obese form of hypothyroidism in his 1926 textbook, Diseases of the Endocrine Glands.

He had not changed his opinion by the time the forth edition was published in 1944.

-----------

My research shows that many chronic illnesses including heart disease, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, mental illnesses, Alzheimer's disease, and the explosion of childhood illnesses are largely attributable to Type 2 hypothyroidism.

Type 1 Hypothyroidism is defined as failure of the thyroid gland to produce sufficient amounts of necessary to maintain normal blood levels of those hormones and normal blood levels of the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH).

Type 2 Hypothyroidism is defined as [a] resistance to thyroid hormones at the cellular level.

[In Type 2 hypothyroidism,] Normal amounts of thyroid hormones and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) are detected by the blood tests therefore, blood tests do not detect Type 2 hypothyroidism.

Quotes about Dr. Starrs book.

I believe everyone needs to review Mark Starrs book.
Dr. Garry Gordon
Co-Founder of the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM)

He has a vital message to share about the many people who do not realize they have low thyroid, because standard thyroid tests do not show it.
Dr. Garry Gordon

Mark Starrs dedication to research, and his devoted study with the old masters, have made him an international expert on thyroid and iodine.
Dr. Garry Gordon

This is an astonishing book revealing the cause and successful treatment for obesity, heart attacks, depression, diabetes, strokes, headaches, chronic fatigue and many more. His in-depth research and discussion of how environmental toxins can interfere with thyroid hormones is groundbreaking and enlightening for us all.

Robban Sica, MD

This is the most significant compilation of medical research ever published in the area of hypothyroidism.

Over a century of irrefutable scientific evidence is presented in a concise and readable format for laypeople and doctors alike.

  • What's interesting is that while most doctors are ignorant of NDT, if you speak with a natural dessicated thyroid-literate pharmacist s/he will tell you that NDT (even compounded) is far superior to synthetic. Sadly, since the pharmacists I've spoken to are so well aware of the superiority of NDT they refuse to believe that most docs are not just as aware and will not prescribe it. This makes pharmacists less inclined to refer seekers of NDT to NDT-literate docs *at least in my case).

  • @kitteesPJs Also watch the video "Jacques Hertoghe, MD Resistance to Armour Thyroid".

He is a 3rd generation endocrinologist.

He said they were told in Belgium they Armour Thyroid (natural desiccated thyroid) was the worst thyroid preparation, and notes that one professor said it is a poison, but after he met with Broda Barnes, MD, PhD in Denver, and Barnes told him desiccated thyroid was the best, he found the same to be true.

  • In 5-hours of speeches that Broda Barnes, MD, PhD gave in the 1970's, he noted that he did a study for the Armour Thyroid Company where he tested a new product which contained synthetic T4 plus T3.

He took some of his patients who were on desiccated thyroid and switched them to the T4+T3 product.

He said desiccated thyroid reduces puffiness (edema) that occurs with low thyroid, and makes the skin soft, but the T4+T3 product did NOT do this.

He said desiccated thyroid is best.

  • IS THERE A CONNECTION BETWEEN TYPE #2 DIABETES AND LOW THYROID IN MEN?

  • @tomcat624u

Yes, there is a connection between low thyroid and Type 2 diabetes according to Broda Barnes, MD PhD.

"Dr. Barnes believed diabetes was due in large part to hypothyroidism. New cases of diabetes were extremely rare among his large group of patients being treated for hypothyroidism [with desiccated thyroid. ]"

-- Quote from "Hypothyroidism, Type 2", p. 41, by Mark Starr, MD

I will be glad to scan the chapter on diabetes and email it to you.

  • I totally agree, Armour Thyroid is much better, feel better using it.

  • @IamSqueegie Thanks for you input.

  • @gramavegas10 You are in Las Vegas, NV? Who is your doc? I"m currently trying to find a good one.

Dr. Starr says in his book that desiccated thyroid such as Armor Thyroid is superior to Synthroid (synthetic T4).

Dr. Starr notes that Synthroid has never been proven to correct hypothyroidism.

Broda Barnes, MD, author of Hypothyroidism: The Unsuspected Illness, a doctor who spent his entire career studying thyroid, said the same thing.

  • I just found out today that I my labs indicate that my thyroid was not making enough hormone. My doctor placed me on synthroid. I work out 6 days a week and try to eat good...but could never lose weight....i feel like a zombie most days...i am always bloated....thank god there is finally a reason for my sufferring. I hope the hormone replacment works.
