In the Inspector Gadget episode "Did You Myth Me?" Penny is caught while taking an stolen ancient stone tablet from the lab of a MAD scientist who is trying to recreate an ancient alchemist's formula to turn lead into gold.
@wileyk209zback -- I figured as much. The channel now known as SyFy had done the same time-compression when they were showing re-runs of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" years ago; the sound was a dead giveaway at the time. :-)
@MeloaEpiphany UPDATE: I think this episode and some others originally aired at normal speed, but when DiC prepared the new masters used on YTV, DVD releases and Jaroo/Hulu/etc., they time-compressed some of the episodes like this one
You have an excellent point regarding smarter enemies.
A perfect example is this episode. In order for the MAD scientist to have avoided the circumstances shown above, he should have first translated the tablet & committed the translation to paper before taking the first step of the alchemy process. Thus, the MAD scientist would have been able to complete the formula -- even if Penny took the tablet.
Evil minds -- even brilliant ones -- can be so lost when it comes to plain common sense!
