One of our chomsky audio's from his terrorism theirs and ours speech.

In response to U.S. declarations of a War on Terrorism in 1981 and the redeclaration in 2001, Chomsky has argued that the major sources of international terrorism are the world's major powers, led by the United States. He uses a definition of terrorism from a U.S. Army manual, which describes it as, "the calculated use of violence or the threat of violence to inculcate fear; intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological". In relation to the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan he stated:

"Wanton killing of innocent civilians is terrorism, not a war against terrorism." (9-11, p. 76)

On the efficacy of terrorism:

"One is the fact that terrorism works. It doesn't fail. It works. Violence usually works. That's world history. Secondly, it's a very serious analytic error to say, as is commonly done, that terrorism is the weapon of the weak. Like other means of violence, it's primarily a weapon of the strong, overwhelmingly, in fact. It is held to be a weapon of the weak because the strong also control the doctrinal systems and their terror doesn't count as terror. Now that's close to universal. I can't think of a historical exception, even the worst mass murderers view the world that way. So take the Nazis. They weren't carrying out terror in occupied Europe. They were protecting the local population from the terrorisms of the partisans. And like other resistance movements, there was terrorism. The Nazis were carrying out counter terror".

As regards support for condemnation of terrorism, Chomsky opines that terrorism (and violence/authority in general) is generally bad and can only be justified in those cases where it is clear that greater terrorism (or violence, or abuse of authority) is thus avoided.

  • I can't thank you enough for taking the time to upload this WaarOmeter

  • When mass media only refers to white folks as General Authority on Haiti it stifles Haitian growth. N.C & P. F. should secede this voice to Haitians, we are not without voice. The lazy journalism looks 4 a repetition of the same sources over & over. Haiti is not the poorest country in any hemisphere, only a white person would propagate this falsity when the fact Haiti continues to get pillaged shows there are goods and resources. The scope with which we examine Haiti must also change. Utube me

  • @lukkbox I seriously doubt Noam Chomsky doubts slavery has disappeared, if you are familiar with who he is you might understand what im saying.

  • this person thinks slavery has dissapeared lol

    priceless

Instead of sending soldiers to protect private US companies running in Haiti that it worked so hard for while backing the military coup against Aristide and furthermore the death squads, why doesn't the US send more food/medicine/machineries that the people need so desperately. The US government simply can't look beyond its own interests.

  • @jjrglobal the record is what has already happened, not what you will predict will happen in ten years. It's also known as reality. You should look into it sometime.

  • "He doesn't say that Nicaragua was he RICHEST country in central america during the US backed Somosza period and became the poorest during the socviet back sandanista regime"

Rich for who, arsehole? Somoza and his child-raping cronies. When the Sandinistas came into power, the US waged a vicious terrorist war against the nation's infrastructure, killing thousands and causing billions in damage. Fuck Reagan, and fuck you.

  • "You act as if we caused the poverty, we didn't"

A total lie. You did. Chomsky has written extensively about the imposed poverty of Haiti.

"we didn't intervene and then things got bad"

Seems you know fuck-all about the history of Haiti. Mindlessly believing pious platitudes about America's "greatness" will tend to do that.

  • @jeremybalfe

Well it just so happens that an example is going on right now Haiti. The US Military has been sent in to restore order and help with relief efforts. Ten years from now, when the earthquake is long since forgotten, Chomsky will use this as an example of US military intervention. What record are you referring to? The records you make up in your tiny brain as you type don't really count in the real world. Nice try though.

  • @jjrglobal provide evidence for that claim. By simply reviewing the record, Chomsky reveals what's going on. Your position/claim is inconsistent with reality, and once again, the record.
